Inspired by a pro triathlete who visited his school as a teenager, Stuart undertook his first triathlon in 1986. After that, he was hooked on the sport of triathlon! After taking a break to get married and start a family, his triathlon journey was reignited in 2014 when he embarked on training and competing in his first Ironman 70.3, in Geelong, Australia. Since then he’s competed in seven half Ironmans and five full Ironmans, including the 2017 and 2018 World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
A pharmacist by training, he spent many years as a clinical pharmacist in Melbourne. He subsequently undertook further training in epidemiology and biostatistics, becoming a health technology analyst, assessing the efficacy, safety, and cost benefit of health care. He applies the same scientific, evidence-based approach used to assess health interventions to his training and coaching.
